Do not sterilize sealed items in the sterile bag. This can lead to serious potential issues. Sealed items, such as vials, may explode upon removal, posing burn or injury risks and potentially causing abnormal pressure rise errors or incomplete sterilization.

Do not seal sterile bags unless otherwise specified by the sterile bag manufacturer. The air inside the sterilization bag may not be able to be discharged and the pressure inside the container may rise abnormally, leading to abnormal pressure rise errors and sterilization failure due to temperature unevenness. The only exception to this is a precaution when using semi-permeable sterile bags. Follow the instructions provided by the manufacturer for semi-permeable bags.

In addition to these precautions, be sure to select the right sterile bag for your specific application. Whether it’s for medical instruments, laboratory equipment, or other items, ensure that the bag you choose is appropriate and considers the following:

  • Sterilization Method: Ensure that the bag is compatible with autoclave sterilization. Different methods, such as autoclaving, ethylene oxide (EtO) sterilization, or gamma radiation, may require specific bag materials and features.

Properly using sterile bags not only guarantees the effectiveness of the sterilization process but also ensures the safety of patients, users, and the environment.
